DeSoto ISD is continuing in it's sixth successful year with WINGS, the Where I Now Gain Success program. This program follows the DeSoto ISD calendar.
There is no charge for this program (except a supply fee) and it is open to people between the ages of 17 and 25 who have dropped out of any public high school in the US.
The goal of this program is to provide students the opportunity to earn the credits and skills needed for a high school diploma. WINGS provides a computer based program that is flexible to student needs. Students work at their own pace during scheduled morning or afternoon sessions.
WINGS employs part-time and full-time staff members, including a principal, a facilities manager, a counselor, an English instructor, two math instructors, two science instructors, a special education instructor and an electives coordinator. These faculty members tutor students on their computer courses, as well as prepare them for state mandated tests required for graduation. The students work in computer labs which are monitored by full-time staff members. WINGS also employs a full-time administrative assistant and PIEMS clerk.
